Got my new nebulizer yesterday. It is SO cute! AND so small! AND it has a car adapter.... don't know that I'd actually do meds while driving, but I suppose I could do them while Trent drove. However, the saline can be a little "smokey" in an enclosed space... so that might be funny (and dangerous too, I suppose!!) I'll HAVE to post a photo of it compared to what I've been using. Now the big question is... does it do the job? I haven't tried it yet, but my old nebulizer was taking for EVER. 5ccs of saline was taking me about 30 - 40 minutes to do. This isn't too bad if it's all I had to do (which it is right now). But it wouldn't be all that unlikely that I'll be back on Tobi again sometime in the future... there is NO way I'd want to do 30 mins of saline PLUS 20 mins of Tobi. (I'm not saying the I "couldn't" do it... I'm saying that I wouldn't "want" to do it. Big difference. I'm a busy girl. I'd be a busy girl with a bad attitude, I suppose. (I've been accused of worse). Healthy.... something and wise....

Ohhhhh I'm doing everything by the book today... Nothing like a bout of illness to make me compliant.... I have been quite consistent with my inhaled saline and I am pretty sure that it has kept me healthier than I would be usually. We have come into contact with numerous sick people... colds... coughs... yucky noses... and I have stayed remarkably well. I think that there is a huge possibility that not having the boys in school bringing home oodles of germs is probably having an impact too. Our school lives are starting more and more to become Unschooled.

Vest

Day One... It's been a while since I've used my Vest. I've been able be blissfully in denial of my CF for a long time. But... 40's coming up... How far am I willing to push my luck? Airway clearance time. Thank God for the internet. I can do my vest and troll the internet and I barely notice 30 minutes go by. Still resent having to do it though. I don't think that that will ever change.

I have decided that the inhaled saline really does work!!! I really like it. Makes my lungs feel really clear. How bizarre, How bizarre. Ooops, Bay crying...

Water, water, water

So we are far from done with our water issues... It looks like aside from the French Drain we will need to dig up the basement concrete flooring in order to drain the water that must be underneath... It's good to find this out now, before we start remodeling... However, it's a big setback...

On a seperate note, I am on my second week of inhaled Hypertonic Saline. I have to say that I'm not certain I feel any different. I started it when I was sick and also started antibiotics, so I feel like the improvement in my cough is due to the antibiotics. But, according to what I've read the real advantage to the inhaled saline is that I should have fewer infections... therefore much less coughing in the long run. That inhaled saline might help CF lungs was discovered after a CF center in Australia noticed higher lung functions among it's CF surfer population. Now where was I for THAT study... Australian surfers... obviously, I'd have had to learn to surf... and to swim, probably....
